Lacye A. Brown – Storyteller. Alchemist. Unapologetically Unnormal.
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Lacye A. Brown moved through more than 15 homes across the South by the time she reached middle school. Art was her constant—her safe haven through instability, financial hardship, and the quiet weight of growing up with a single mother. While the world outside was unpredictable, her imagination was structured, rich, and relentless.
In elementary school, her teacher Mrs. Daniels noticed her finishing assignments hours ahead of classmates. Instead of idling, Lacye spent her afternoons writing her first full novel and walking the nature trail—sparking a lifelong discipline in storytelling.
By high school, she maintained honor roll while balancing life in motels, solo cooking, and home responsibilities many adults would flinch at. She pursued college, started a family, and tried to build what she thought was a “normal” life. But normalcy broke her. And in the ruins, she found something better: authenticity.
After leaving a toxic marriage with three young kids, no income, and no support system, Lacye climbed from working under-the-table at a tattoo parlor to being hired at a Fortune 500 company—all within eight months. That transformation sparked a spiritual awakening, taking her on solo journeys around the world where she met a Shaman, was initiated into Munay-ki rites, and became a Reiki Master in multiple systems.
This path led to the founding of LAB Shaman, a spiritual brand and healing platform rooted in integrity, power, and self-discovery.
But that wasn’t the end.
In 2018, she created a 3-ft witch doctor sculpture for a Halloween art show. On the spot, she invented his name—Dr. Apples—and wrote a one-page story. That one page became a novella… then a visual art show, a podcast, an award-winning animated short, and now a full-fledged fantasy universe. Through Dr. Apples, Lacye channels her lived experience, metaphysical studies, and bold artistic voice into storytelling that defies genre—and expectation.
She is a producer, writer, artist, mother, healer, and force.
